Make It Monday #109: Watercolor Stamping Plus Embossing

I had such fun playing with this technique.
It took me a few tries to get the water/ink ratio right - the first time I tried it with too much water and it just puddled right onto the stamp and paper with no actual stamped images at all. The second attempt I discarded at first as one area had puddled again but when I embossed the 3rd, perfectly stamped effort I lost all of the lovely blended colors as the embossing hid it all. So I went back to image 2, complete with splodges (technical term obviously) and offset the stamp enough to still be able to see the inks behind the trees.

The inks are all Tim Holtz - Scattered straw, Tattered rose, Dried marigold and Frayed burlap and I used the same combination to make the wash at the bottom. The stamp in from Inkadinkado and I had originally intended to add the new "hello foxy" image in front of the trees but I think they look lovely as a stand alone.
The box around the sentiment is from PTIs postmarks set with the original sentiment masked out. The Happy Birthday is from birthday basics.
And, for those that looked at the photo earlier today and thought, like me, how weird the middle bit looked, I went away and made it again and this time didn't try to "fix" an empty space with a copic marker. I like it much better now.

  2. Sarah, your process had me laughing. Had the same problem. Takes a few try's for sure. Your results were well worth the effort. Reminds me of a Winslow watercolor. Beautiful!
