SSS Monday - Ombre flowers

The lovely thing about the weeks Ombre challenge at Simon Says sStamp is that there are so many ways to go with ombre.
For this card I stamped the same image a number of times and coloured them with distress inks and a water pen in shades from Squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, fossilized amber, wild honey and a mixture of ripe persimmon and rusty hinge.
I added the Happy from PTIs Tipped tops cut a few times from black card, the birthday from PTI Wet paint and an assortment of sequins in about the same shades to reinforce the colour progression.

SSS Monday - Ombre

It's been so long since I played along with the Monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp, but we had visitors yesterday so I've cleaned the house from top to bottom ( a rare occurance) so I decided I would be very self indulgent today. Plus the challenge is ombre, which I love.
I stamped Tim Holtz's "botanical sketch" in MFT ink in steel grey and then blended out from the centre, the yellows (lemonade, mustard seed and fossilized amber) going to the left and the greens (crushed olive, twisted citron and mowed lawn) to the right. Then I used a white gel pen to pick out a few flowers.
The die cuts are PTI Larger than life.
I really should have had someone shouting "no, stop now" in my ear before the sequins went on. I think I was just excited that I had some that matched the colours.

PTI September blog hop

I very nearly forgot all about this months blog hop at Papertrey Ink but thankfully I looked at facebook today and that reminded me.
This is the inspiration picture

Pretty isn't it, and a chance to try again at a chalkboard technique that has always been less than successful before.

I'm not very impressed with my red embossing powder (I tried to add glossy red berries to the wreath but they are pretty underwhelming). However, I had more success with the chalkboard look this time by adding the white ink with a big paintbrush (the one that comes free with perfect pearls) rather than using a sponge. I covered the christmas sentiment with glossy accents to give some shine.

TH 12 Tags - September 2015

This month's tutoral for Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2015 looked so pretty that I really wanted to have a go.
Making the background with the alcohol inks was really fun - although my first few attempts had way too much of the metal mixative (I'm saving them for Christmas cards though as it was silver).
I thought I'd use Library green archival ink to pick out the embossing paste and then used green florist wire to attach the word band (it's really a bit thick so I had a few problems winding it tightly around the fasteners). Bundled sage spray stain on the tag seemed to play along with the green tones.

MIM #224

Two toned stamps was the challenge at this week's Make it Monday.

I stand by the sentiment for now, but ask me again in February and I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune.

PTI Create along Sept 2015

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gbISs0Yv2G8/VfPxcPJT3MI/AAAAAAAAN0o/cb8LcgIq-Zo/s640/PTIholidayfolk1-1_aks.jpgI think the Create along with us challenge at Papertrey ink is my favourite challenge. I'm so happy they started it.
This is the card I used for inspiration this month. It was created by Amy Sheffer.  I think it's lovely, especially the watercoloured background, so I decided to head down a similar route. It's certainly made me excited to get my hands on the Wee Folk Christmas set.

For my card I used Lavender moon refill to add a watercoloured area and added a text stamp oin the same colour. This was the first time out of the packet for Twig wreath, but now it's unlikely to leave my desk. The birds are from the original Wee Folk set.

Freshly made sketches #202

It's been a while since I played along at Freshly made sketches but I'm looking for christmas card inspiration and need all the help I can get.
Here's the sketch

And this is the very simple card I made with it

The paper and ink are PTI Pinefeather, the sentiment is from Technique Tuesday "celebrate the season"and the trees are by Stampin' up.
