PTI January blog hog

A card for this months blog hop at Papertrey Ink
This was the inspiration picture
January inspiration
I used PTI sweet speech (but the back side of the stamps as I didn't want the words) on black card, stamping first with white pigment ink and then with tropical teal (the color was not as vibrant as I'd hoped - I think I might need to try stamping with paints instead). Then I heat embossed the happy on each speech bubble and added the die cut Birthday.

MIM #237

I was supposed to be working today, but a last minute cancellation gave me a free day, and what better way to spend it that playing along with the current Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink
Our challenge was to make matchbook valentines, but with a 16 year old boy my need for class valentines went out the window a long time ago so instead I used the matchbook idea for a slightly different purpose. For a while now I've been playing with the idea of sending one or two of my littler nieces a pocket letter. The only thing really stopping me is trying to think of things to go in matching letters for their brothers.

I thought I might make some sort of hair tie or barette to go inside this matchbook. That, however, will have to wait for another day. The iris is from Flower favourites, as is the little handmade sentiment. The bottom sentiment is from Mini blooms.

PTI Create along with us January 2016

It's been weeks and weeks since I last blogged, but I finally found some time today to play along with my favourite challenge - Create along with us at Papertrey Ink.
I used one of Lizzie Jones's cards as my inspiration

Brave Enough To Fly Card

I think this is just beautiful - all that white but the pops of colour.
For my card I used the In the woods cover plate, and tried to give a suggestion of blossom underneath the branches.

The little bouquet in the corner was a late addition to cover some very unsuccessful stamping, but it sort of works.
