MIM #123

This weeks MIM was about dyeing paint with re-inkers. Ashley used gesso, but, not having any (and having checked the entry criteria wording very carefully) I decided to make use of a bottle of white acrylic paint.
I wanted to make the moon - don't ask me why but that was the start point and everything else was chosen to work with that original thought.
I tinted the white paint with shaded lilac re-inker and painted a large circle. Once this was (just about) dry I made a slightly darker lilac and painted that on. Once this was dry I mixed some weathered wood in with the white and added some splodges to give an idea of the moons craters. Then I punched a circle out and inked up the edges slightly with milled lavender.
The sentiment was just right for a niece who's off to college.
