SSS Monday - Try to contain yourself

I've had no time at all for crafting for what seems like months now, so this week I'm making sure I get a chance to indulge myself a little. I have a whole heap of birthday cards to get done, but I saw this week's challenge at Simon Says Stamp - Monday and decided I'd dust off the sewing machine instead.
I've just had small ones staying, and had bought a few packs of pens and pencils for them to use, including a box of 48 gel pens that came without any storage once the box was ripped open. So I made a pencil case to keep them in. There are loads of tutorials online for a zippered pouch - I used this one.

I started with a blank piece of lightweight canvas, an assortment of archival inks, some Martha Stewart letter stencils and some Tim Holtz layering stencils to decorate the front of the pouch.
Once I'd put in the zip I cut some floral accents from a light cotton fabric, backed with heat'n'bond, and stamped with images from PTI Doodlie doo and more archival inks. These were then ironed into place (although, they didn't hold as well as I'd hoped, so once the pouch was finished I had to go back with some gel medium and stick some of them again)
And this was my finished pouch. Just the right size for the pens.

  1. This is such a cute idea, Sarah, and I love the sentiment you bug on the bag. It's so true, what would life be like without art!! Awesome job! Thanks for joining us on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.
