MIM #174

I have the Little Argyle stamp set that Ashley uses in this week's Make it Monday challenge, and I need a birthday card for my brother (5 family birthdays in August so actually need to make lots of cards) so I thought I'd have a go.

PTI July blog hop #2

When I was playing around with backgrounds to re-create the painted look for this month's blog hop at Papertrey Ink, I managed to make this ethereal effect and loved it, even though it wasn't what I'd been trying to get to.
I wanted to keep it pretty simple, so made the little envelope and added a sentiment from the "keep it simple" set and flowers from "sweet speech" to the "notecard".

PTI July blog hop #1

I took the inspiration picture far too literally for this first card for the July blog hop at Papertrey Ink.
I fell in love with the painted background and set out to recreate it. I started with brown card, added a couple of layers of gesso and a couple of layers of sage distress paint. Once it was dry I scraped some of the paint off again to reveal the brown.
I then used one of the card sketches from this month's release for inspiration.
Having spent far to much time on the background I suppose it was only to be expected that the sentiment would smudge!

MIM #173

I found this weeks Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink very difficult, as it so isn't my usual style. I have very few outline stamps as my colouring skills are severely lacking. However, I found this chrysanthemum (I think) in with a sheet I'd picked up at a yard sale.
I had to abandon my first attempt and start again using watercolour card as the inks kept running together too much to give any definition.

MIM #172 - Card 2

I stuck with the "postmarks" stamp set to have another try at this weeks Make it Monday
The base card is stamped with Postmark background set in white ink.

MIM #172 - Rainbow medallions

This card, for this weeks Make it Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink, came together better than I thought it was going to. When I started the stamping I was really not convinced, but the oval in the centre helped disguise how misaligned the stamped images were.
The repeated image is from "postmarks".

SSS Monday - start from scratch

I took the challenge literally for this weeks Monday challenge at Simon Says Stamp and started with plain white card and a bit of grungeboard and went from there.
I love how the coral worked out. I used one of the branches from Spellbinders cherry blossom die set, coloured it with a copic and then added speckles of tattered rose ink with the distress marker spritzer.
The background uses the embossing wax paper technique I picked up from Suz on this blog a few weeks ago.

MIM #171 - feel better soon

A second attempt at this weeks Make It Monday at Papertrey Ink

I cheated with the leaves - I couldn't get the angle right to run the plates through my big shot without wrecking the corners of my card base. The flower, however, is done the right way!

MIM #171

I know, beautiful summer day and I make a Christmas card. My only excuse is that it was the only die that sprang to mind for this technique, for this weeks Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink
Once I'd diecut I used a craft knife to finish the star and the top and bottom details so it was only the very tips of the flakes still uncut.
With hindsight, I wish I'd placed the snowflake a little higher to allow a bit more room for the sentiment.

MIM 170 #3

Do you ever go to sleep thinking of the card you should have made? This was my experience with this weeks Make It Monday challenge.
I've just got round to buying "Mum's the word" and it struck me that this set might work perfectly for this weeks technique.
A green splodge made the scattered dots necessary, but I don't think they look too out of place.
